Three summers ago, I asked two friends to swim with me across a small lake where we were enjoying an afternoon of picnicking and fun together.  It was a grand day, the water was warm and calm, and my husband Andy and another friend promised to follow us in a paddle boat for safety measures.   We swimmers agreed upon a single goal - to get to the other side of the lake.  Well, no surprise, about halfway across, we realized that this was more of a challenge than we had bargained for in the beginning; we became tired, the water felt icy cold in the center of the lake, and so we reluctantly turned and swam back to shore.  We were disappointed to not make it to the other side of the lake.

Have you noticed a lot more nones these days?

People who do surveys and studies on religion say that nones are a very fast-growing group.  I'm not talking about the nuns I knew as a kid, the women in the black habits who reminded us kids of penguins.
